Biography
Jan Münch, PhD, Prof. Dr. rer. nat. (44 years), studied Biology at the University of Erlangen-Nurnberg, Germany. In 2002, he received his PhD for his studies on the role of the Nef protein in lentiviral pathogenesis. From 2002-2004 he worked as PostDoc at the Institute of Virology, Ulm, Germany. In 2004 he was appointed W1 professor at the same institute and in 2010 full W3 professor at the newly established Institute of Molecular Virology (Ulm, Germany). His main research focus is to identify endogenous peptides that modulate viral infection and to clarify their mechanism, generation and theranostic potential. He has published ~ 100 research articles and has received a number of prestigious awards and honors.
